purpose
The purpose of Northwest Chinese Baptist Church shall be to carry out the Great Commisson of the Lord Jesus Christ as recorded in Matthew 28: 19-20 and to develop Christian fellowship among the saints and their growth in the grace and knowledge of Christ.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (NASB)

our_mission
Our mission is to love the LORD our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength and to love our neighbors by leading them into an ever-growing relationship with Jesus Christ. (Mark 12:30-31.)

'and you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.' "The second is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself." There is no other commandment greater than these." (NASB)

church_history
In 1982, the members of the First Chinese Baptist Church in Phoenix, Arizona felt led by the Holy Spirit to begin a new work in the northwest part of Phoenix. On January 9, 1983, fourteen families were sent to begin the mission known as First Chinese Baptist Chapel. The first services were held at Apollo Baptist Church in Glendale. There were approximately 40 faithful followers in attendance that day. Sunday school began at 1:30pm and worship service began at 2:30pm. Pastor Simon Tsoi, of First Chinese Baptist Church, faithfully preached every Sunday afternoon at the worship service for over two years.

In the spring of 1985, the mission officially became Northwest Chinese Baptist Church. Dr. Nathan Pillow served as our first Interim Pastor from April 28 to July 7, 1985. Pastor Ron Jewe was called to be our full-time pastor in May of 1985 and preached his first sermon on July 14, 1985. He was ordained on November 16, 1985 and served until November 1998.

In 1998, the church began the construction of the present facilities located at the southeast corner of 43rd Avenue and Greenway Road in Phoenix. The modern facilities consist of a sanctuary with seating that can accomodate up to 250 people, office space, and a seven room Sunday School, kitchen, and fellowship hall. In addition, a detached nursery was constructed at the same time. The buildings were dedicated on December 3, 1988.

By the grace of God the mission and church has been financially independent since the very beginning.

The worship service had been in English with translation into Cantonese by headphones until January 2000. The first Chinese speaking worship service was started on January 16, 2000. Six guest pastors took turns to preach. Dr. Jeff Lee served as our first Interim Pastor for Chinese speaking congregation from April 2003 to April 2007.

In 2004, Pastor Terry Wong and Pastor Jeff Lee were ordained in our church.

Pastor Terry Wong was called to be our English Pastor in October of 2005.

Erik Kakimoto was called to be our Youth Pastor in 2006 and is currently serving as the Young Adult/College Pastor.

Pastor Anton Liu was called to be our first full time Chinese-Speaking Pastor in April 2007.

Stephen Yee was ordained in 2009 and is serving as the Youth Pastor.
